I followed the instructions for NHL 2000.
I can start the app and the main menu comes up. Once I start a game against another team, it will load and the game will start. I can even win the face-off. However after approx. 5 seconds my computer will jump back to desktop. I can hear the sound, the game continues in the background. But I cannot get back into the app. The preview on the task bar shows a black screen and when I click it I remain on the desktop.
Anyone else with this issue, any ideas?

I was trying to mod NHL 99's files for an alternate universe where the teams exist, but not the players, and although it worked on older versions of Windows 10, it no longer works on newer versions of the OS. It works on older OSes as well, though.

It's me again. I tried getting to the controller setup screen in NHL 2001, but crashes back to desktop right before it was able to perform the task. I tried everything from getting another copy of the game to deleting and reapplying the registry as well as starting the season over, but to no avail. Could it be OS-related that has been causing the game to crash? Please advise me on what steps I should consider.

It's more or less like it works on my laptop, but not on desktop. And I never had a problem with it on desktop until recently.

NHL 2000 has been dear to my heart for 20 years now; FINALLY got it to start up again with the instructions at classicgamefixes.wixsite.com/home/nhl-2000, but as soon as the intro finishes, it just stops at the title screen, before the main menu. I'll be frank, I'm not even sure whether I'm using the Direct3D version or the Glide version, though I think it's the latter because switching from "by app" to "by desktop" and vice versa made a clear difference in the graphics. Am I just not being patient enough, or am I missing something? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Here's how I got NHL 2002 to work on Windows 10 20H2 (64-bit) in Direct3D mode. 1. Install the full game to C:\Games\EA SPORTS\NHL 2002\ instead of C:\Program Files (x86)\EA SPORTS\NHL 2002\. 2. Run C:\Games\EA SPORTS\NHL 2002\3DSetup\3DSetup.exe as administrator and choose your options. Click "This program installed correctly" if the prompt comes up. 3. Download this no-cd fix. www.mediafire.com/file/ll84nw6ssitz91t/NHL2002-nocd.zip/file4. Unzip nhl2002.exe and RegSetup.exe into the NHL2002 installation directory. Let it overwrite nhl2002.exe. 5. Run RegSetup.exe as administrator. Click "This program installed correctly" when the prompt comes up. 6. Download this newer ddraw.dll. www.mediafire.com/file/xhzxtose5s96t3b/ddraw.zip/file7. Extract ddraw.dll into the NHL2002 installation directory. Hi hh2002, You gave the only solution I have seen to playing this on Windows 10 20H2. Finally, it works!!! But, your fix changed the menu song. Well, all of the menu songs. Any way to revert it to the original songlist? Thanks!
