Hi, hh2002,
I used the newer ddraw.dll file you posted onto my NHL 2001, and for some reason, the menu likes to slow down to a crawl, although gameplay-wise, it runs buttery smooth. This probably occurs when I set the 3D card to D3D Device. It probably may occur on an integrated chip, too, but I don't know....

Making a little update to clarify my issue that I talked about a few posts up:
Initially, restarting helped, and then every subsequent time I played after that, it gave me the "insert CD" window.
Now, whenever I restart, it doesn't work period. Unsure if it's just inconsistent, or if it's my old laptop's crappy CD drive and I should get a new one, but regardless I'm still having the issues. Is there a no-CD patch specifically for 2000 that anyone could redirect me to?

I'm attempting to play NHL98 on a windows 10 machine.
I have the game launching and running properly, but I can't seem to get a controller recognized outside of mouse and keyboard. I'm attempting to use an Xbox one controller, ideally so I can run parsec and play with a friend.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hi DanTheMan, Have you tried using dgVoodoo2 with NHL 2001? It is available here: dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/I use this with Midtown Madness 2, which also has a slow menu issue in Windows 10, and dgVoodoo2 fixes that issue as well as making the gameplay smooth. I use the Direct3D mode rather than the Voodoo2 mode. Hopefully, this will work for NHL 2001 as well. I don't have NHL 2001, so I can't test it.

I just tried the steps for NHL 2000 and wasn't able to get it to work either. Even using the no-CD patch on the NHL 2000 page, it keeps asking me to insert the CD. If I find one that works, I'll post it.

Even though I got NHL 2001 working in Glide mode, the game will always crash whenever I try to actually play the game- be it a quick game, a shootout, playoffs, season- if it involves selecting teams, the game cannot handle it.

Good morning from Spain Matt and fans of the NHL saga (sorry for my bad English). I hope you are doing the best you can with the pandemic and I hope we are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I posted quite some time ago and recently I was able to upgrade my computer with Windows 10 and Nvidia graphics card and I must say that for older games I notice a greater stability than with Windows 8.1.
I will comment a little the results testing the NHL 98, 99 and 2000...
NHL 98: It works perfectly, although it needs that we increase the resolution via nGlide if we want it bigger than 640x480 with the consequent pixelation in the menus. The dsound.dll file is not needed in my case. I have tried to edit the registry entry "camera" putting different values to avoid having to use the gamepad to change camera but I have not succeeded, in the other NHL this value varies depending on the camera you choose in the menus but here so far I can not find the solution. Otherwise perfectly playable and enjoyable.
NHL 99: It works perfect and does not give me the slowdowns that I had under nGlide in Windows 8.1. I have verified that copying from NHL 2000 the file voodoo2z.dll and naming it in the "Trash driver" section of the registry we can play up to 1280x1024 or 1600x1200 from the game menu without forcing the resolution in nGlide so the menus do not pixelate.
Now, in all modes under nGlide I notice during the game some continuous artifacts like random lines and stripes that are quite annoying. So in my case I'm playing in software mode which I don't dislike either. I have to test in dgVoodoo if it gives the same problem. In this video at minute 2:06 you can clearly see these graphical artifacts:
NHL 2000: A jewel that works great. Of course, even if you use nGlide, in my case I had to copy the new dx6z.dll file because otherwise the game started with a black screen and went to the desktop. Here like NHL 99 we can see the menus at normal resolution and play at 1280x1024 or 1600x1200. There is no graphic problem and I had never seen the game with this quality.
I tried NHL 2002 and uninstalled it because it did not recognize the graphics quality in high. Even though in the game menu and registry were at full, everything looks as if it was at the minimum. I will continue testing later...
And that's all for now. I hope it helps. Greetings and good day!

Hello there, I really want to run NHL 2002 in windowed mode. What are the ways I can do this? I tried DXwnd but it did not work. Would it be possible to run it off a virtual machine?

Good morning Flippy. I kept doing tests and NHL 2002 works perfectly using NGLide and Windows XP SP2 or SP3 compatibility mode (this may not be really necessary but with other games I have given me a plus of stability and I prefer to leave it like this). You do not need DXWND for NHL 2002 ... Best regards.

I tried it and even though there's a windowed mode, I still can't alt-tab or alt-f4 or use any other apps like discord or OBS. Is there something I can use?
