Have you ever looked into updating the Scrabble game that was put out by General Mills (same era as Yahtzee)?

I've never found a better version and it isn't compatible with Windows 10.  
Would love to be able to play it again.

Hi EC, sorry it's taken so long to respond to you. Hope you come back around and see this.

I have that blue CD in the pic, is that the one you're referring to? That one doesn't install, but you can run the program (scrabble.exe) straight off of the CD without installing the game (it's located in the SCRABBLE folder).

Thanks for getting back to me.
I have the CD in the General Mills sleeve - the one in the photo to the immediate left of Operation.

The files on the CD are:
MANUAL
TRYAOL
Setup
start
and various cabinet files and documents.

When I click on start or Setup I get the following message:
Confirm uninstall.  Do you want to completely remove the selected application and all of its components?

There doesn't seem to be a Scrabble.exe anywhere.

Very frustrating.

Thanks though for your web site - by following your instructions, I WAS able to get Ultimate Yahtzee to work on my computer, so I'm 1 for 2.

Are you familiar with how to make an ISO image of a CD? If not, here are some how-to's to look at. It's not hard -- basically what an ISO file is, is all the contents of a CD contained in a single file.

If you wanted, I would send you the info for one of my file sharing accounts, and you could upload the ISO file there. I would then essentially 'have' your General Mills CD to work with. Pretty sure I can figure out how to make it run if I can toy with the files.

Scrabble worked great for the past 8 months or so. Thank you very much! It made me happy and also a much better Scrabble player. Unfortunately, this past week it suddenly quit.

At first, I got messages like:
CCoreScreen::InitFail
SetDisplayMode FAILED. Please update your version of Direct X with the Game CD AND/OR make sure you have the latest video card drivers. Consult the 'ReadMe' file if you have any questions.

CCoreAplication Error
Failed to initialize the display.

I suspected that some 'helpful' windows update was responsible, but couldn't find one that corresponded time-wise. Then I discovered that there was an intel graphics driver update around that time. Here's what I could dig up:

So I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Scrabble program from your original messages. That stopped the messages above. However, now when I click on the program .exe, I get a black screen for about 30 seconds or so and then the screen comes back up and it's like nothing ever happened (although I suspect something did).

Here's another possible clue for you: The only other program which I've found was affected at the same time was my internet connection. The day of the update, my computer stopped recognizing our wi-fi and I had to mess around with it for a bit to get it working again.

Any thoughts about what I can do or should I just take up a new game when I have free time?
