Thanks for saving my sanity by getting my Boggle game to run in Windows 10. But now the problem is getting it to run in a Win 10 laptop I just acquired. Your instructions say to get the necessary files off the game CD. But the laptop has no CD drive. No problem, I thought; I'll just copy the Games/Board/Boggle folder from the PC where it is now running. I did that, being sure to include the files boggle.id, d3drm.dll, PDDLLW32.dll, and redllw32.dll. But when these are copied to the new laptop and I attempt to run the program by clicking on boggle.exe, I get a message: unable to start correctly (0xc0000022). Any idea what I may have done wrong?

Hi Gary, I might have the answer for that - just recently had a poster come through with the same error with the Hasbro Clue game. You probably have to install DirectPlay. Open Control Panel, then select Programs and Features, On the left side of the screen, you should see "Turn Windows features on or off." At the next screen, open "Legacy Components" and check to see if DirectPlay is listed. If it is, make sure it has a checkmark next to it. If there was no checkmark there before, the computer will take a minute to install DirectPlay. Might have to restart the PC too. After that, try the game again and see what happens.

That did the trick.
Thank you very much for putting up this site, and particularly for making it possible for me to continue playing Boggle. I appreciate how clear your directions are, with screen shots and everything. And I especially appreciate the prompt reply; I'm leaving tomorrow on a three-week trip, and just can't think what might have happened to my mind if I had been three weeks without Boggle. :-)

Hi lol, which classic board games in particular? I have a few pages on the site dealing with pc board games. BoggleClueLifeMonopolyOperationRiskSorryUsually when you get that error message, it just means the setup program won't work with that version of Windows. Typically there is still a way to play the game, but it depends on which game in particular as the method for getting it to work is always a little different.

Tried to register & it failed somehow. Do not know if this board is still being monitored, but I have an issue with my Boggle after following all of the instructions. The game loads after all of the animations, but the screen is scrambled partially. It doesn't matter what type of game you choose to play on the menu. I would post a picture but I am not sure how to. I hope someone gets this message and can give me some advice on a fix.

Hi Matt, I surmised I would hit some snag, attempting to install a 22 years old program on my PC, running WIN10. Happily, your instructions were nearly right on the money! I copied over the files, updated the DLL files and set the compatibility mode to allow full screen. I can run the classic, but despite copying your folder structure, the other versions are, as you mentioned, looking for the disc. I couldn't open the C:\Games\BoggleNew registration entries file, only run it. I performed the steps a couple times, but is still is looking for the disc (which, as you know, no longer has a matched registry file and so won't run the other game versions either). I'm happy with classic for now. I'll have my tech guy take a look and see what I did incorrectly. Regards, Peter

Thank you so much for these instructions! I got this cd from a cereal box more than 20 years ago and had so much fun with it, but put it in a box years later after it wouldn't work on a newer computer. After unpacking it at a new house, I tried searching for a solution to make it run on Windows 10, but had no luck until now. I followed your instructions and IT WORKS PERFECTLY! You are awesome- thank you!!!

Peter (above) make sure you download the registry files to your folder as per the instructions (near the end of Matt's guide). I did that and every game works.

Followed your directions for loading the boggle on my Optiplex 7010 running Windows 10 with no problems until I started a game. The first several clicks on any group of letters are blackened out. After about 3-5 clicks on letters, the color is changed to a red highlight when clicking on the letters. I have tried almost all combinations of running in compatible mode with no success. Any help would be appreciated
