Hi, I try'd to install my (old) Battleship 2 following your instructions on a Computer with OS WIN 10/64 found on classicgamefixes.wixsite.com/home/battleshipbut it didn't work out because all the folders and *.DLL files you mention do not exist on my Battleship 2-CD from HASBRO since my CD is a Game ment for Windows 95/98. If you have any Tips how i can run the game please let me know. best regards HWP hwp1946@live.de

To those who may be interested... My CD-ROM does not have the BS.exe, BS.CNT, nor the MCCONNECT.DLL files directly on the disc. But, I was able to install the (non-working) program and these files were extracted to C:\Program Files(x86)\Battleship. I copied them to the C:\Games\Board\Battleship folder, followed the other instructions and behold, the program worked!! - with one exception. I still cannot rotate the ships during the game startup. If anyone can figure that out, please reply.

Hello Matt, Thank you for your tutorial ! I followed each step and the game worked fine on my old computer (win7 64 bit). But on my new computer (win10 64 bit), the game no longer starts. A message says that a file is missing. Putting in administrator does not change anything. I don't have the CD, only an iso image mounted with VirtualCloneDrive. Do you know a solution? Thanks in advance ! Ben

Hello,
Thanks for having such a thorough tutorial. I'm still having some issues. Trying to run on Windows 7 Home Premium. The original discs I have are red with "Windows 95 99004" printed on the left side. However, they're pretty scratched up, and after trying everything else suggested, I decided to try buying a new disc. Despite the description being the same, the "new" disc is blue with "Windows 95 99100" printed on the left side. Copyright marks on the bottom are 1996 and 1997, respectively. The blue disc does not have the AMERICAN folder, and some filenames are different, as well. I did manage to find CLASSIC BATTLESHIP.cnt and ULTIMATE BATTLESHIP.CNT after some digging, though I have no idea if those are actually equivalent to the BS.CNT in your directions (which is actually BATTLESHIP.CNT on my red disc).
If you are still active and willing to help, it would be much appreciated. My husband has been trying to play this game for the past 20 years with no luck, and you seem like the most likely person to be able to help.
Thank you, ~Kelly

I did all the steps and the game is working !! For some reason, I get a Failed to Initialize DirectSound error. NOTE: DgVoodoo will not help you this setpallet error.

I know this post is a little old, but i'm just throwing this out there to see if peoplea re still reading. Anwyay. I have the same issue as the guy above, JJ, i do not see the folder "AMERICA". To answer Matt's question i have the DirectX, Graphics, Help, HWEBS, Iwebs, PINP, SFX, wb files. I'm not sure how to add pics but if you need them i can try to figure it out.

Hey Matt! I read your fix and got through to the part where it ran into the AMERICAN Folder. Just as JJ, I cant find it. What I have is the following: .
DirectX GRAPHICS Help HWEBS Lwebs PINP SFX wb _sys1 _User1 data1 _INST32I.EX _ISDEL _SETUP.DLL AutoRun(.exe I assume) AUTORUN Bship.pal BSInstall Button DATA.TAG DISK1.ID lang.dat layout.bin mplaynow os.dat ReadMe Scrolldown Setup SETUP setup.ins setup.lid wb webullet
Looking at the date of the ReadMe file its 09/09/97. Is this Version different from the Version you have?
