Hi, kevinfunk2003 from SG here. Came across this forum while searching for Windows 10 legacy game fixes, especially for the EA Sports titles back in 1997-2001. So far I've been working on a big roster project for World Cup 98 ("FSIL EU Edition"). I've already composing the player attributes for 15 teams of UCL 17/18, the goal is to replace all in-game 40 teams with updated contents. But now I wonder how many people will be able to run it on Windows 10 since there are few feedback about the compatibility issue. In Windows 7/8.1, the game alone with FIFA 98 runs smoothly with the following config: - Copy all of CD Data to one folder path ("\EXAMPLE").
- Copy the patched EXE to \EXAMPLE path.
- Download nGlide patches and follow the instructions to exercise.
- Install nGlide.
- Install Creative ALchemy Universal and configure the game profile.
- Run PatchInstall under \EXAMPLE
- Run fifawc.reg under \EXAMPLE
- You're good to go!
Tested on a Windows 10 Home VM Guest (Host is Windows 7 Home Premium), the game won't run or it runs but without any video. After some examination, the old SDB fix seems broken as some of the settings are assumed deprecated.

My sincere apologies for missing for some days, i recently celebrated my 26th birthday. So my first offering is have you tried to run in windows xp sp2/3 compatibility?

Hi, nice to see you  About the Windows 10 issue... Not available to try it out in the following 30 days... Got a new job to handle. When I ran the test I didn't choose any compatibility mode options, only the SDB fix. |

ok, if you have time try that out and also if that fails, try additionally to put it on "run as administrator" in properties menu. And don't worry no pressure, take your time. And thx for being first one to be on this thread it was pretty empty for like almost 2 months since i created it.

My bad. Works like a charm.
It is based on the performance of an ASUS Transformer Book T100TA since 2014.

ok, glad you worked it out, man. Didn't knew that i could attract some attention from SoccerGaming's one of the notable modders, which is awesome, considering i was used to download stuff from SG around 2006-2008 alongside FIFA Korea and Sweetpatch's FIFA 07 Career Expansion Patch. So i'm happy to at least help you some ways.

Ahhh~ On my desktop, after upgrading to Windows 10 Build 1709 only VMWare Player 12.5 can display normally with a bit laggy. VirtualBox 5.2 only left me with blank screen... Successfully run within VMWare Player 12.5: ![]()  Based on the thread click count, I think I had no power arguing with the software authorities to maintain the game's compatibility. The story tells us that there are something which money can really buy. (Cost me NTD 5,900 and 1,800 for VMWare and Win7 Pro licenses just for playing a game from decades ago... |

well, on that front - that's why i kept my VMWare Workstation 11.1.2. as it has the best hardware acceleration done so far as i've tried newer versions, for some reason they keep breaking stuff with hardware acceleration. Well, i would suggest you to stick with Windows 7. Though, Windows 7 is still supported by Microsoft till January 14th, 2020. And that's why i never bothered to upgrade to Windows 10. As Windows 10 has been proven that on some fronts MS needs to fix and one would be better backwards compatibility. Extreme apologies, if i wasn't offering anything helpful. And to be brutally honest it ran just fine on mine Windows 7 Home Premium setup.

Okay, the problem is with the dsound.dll file. Removed it and ran fine. Chants & shouts to Matt's NHL'98 Sound Fix and dgVoodoo2 as they are the new vital driver of FIFA 98 Series on Win10.
