Hey, Matt. I've just downloaded a Daytona USA Deluxe zip but when I try to play the game I get an error message saying "DDERR_GENERIC". What does this mean, and how can i fix it? Thanks in advance!

Hey Uber. Probably the easiest way around that would be to use DgVoodoo. Download DgVoodoo v2.53, then unzip these three files from the zip to your Daytona game folder: DgVoodooSetup.exe DDraw.dll (located inside the MS folder) D3DImm.dll (same)
Run the DgVoodooSetup.exe. What you want to do at the setup screen is click the little backslash button. You should see your Daytona game path appear inside the config folder/ running instance box. Once that happens, press OK. You should see that a 'dgvoodoo.conf' file has been added to your Daytona folder. Try the game again and see what happens.

I started up the game and got the same error? Followed every step, double checked every file, and a "dgvoodoo" watermark appeared in the bottom right. Anything else i can do?

OK, try this: (1) Delete all the dgvoodoo files from the Daytona folder (2) Download DxWnd here(3) Unzip the DxWnd files to any folder, then run DxWnd.exe. (4) Select Edit >>> Add from the taskbar (5) At the next screen, enter the path to your Daytona USA Deluxe.exe in the "path" box. You should see 3 small dots to the right of this box - you can just click on this to open an Explorer window. From there you can just navigate to the file if you don't feel like typing the full path. Once you've selected the file, click OK. (6) You should see a line named "Daytona USA Deluxe.exe" with a green light next to it. Double click on that to start the game. Let me know how it goes.

It showed up in the list and I double clicked it multiple times. I even restarted the program followed the instructions and did it all over again, but it just won't open. nothing happens

Uber, can you send me a link to the site you got the Daytona zip from? I might be able to figure out what to do if I saw the files.

Thanks, Uber. Gonna have to stash that site in my bookmarks. Unfortunately I'm scratching my head as to why the dgvoodoo isn't working. I should have asked from the beginning, but what version of Windows are you on? One more thing you can try -- here's the Direct3D patch SEGA put out for this game. I've never had much luck with this, but you might be different. Install it and try the game. If it doesn't work out of the box, give it a shot with the dgvoodoo files in the directory. You shouldn't actually have to run the dgvoodoo configurator - as long as ddraw.dll and D3Dimm.dll is in the directory, that should be enough for testing purposes. Oh -- if you get a black box at first and the the game boots you to desktop, try re-loading the game immediately after - I have had that before, and also seen where the game started working after 3, 4, even 5 tries. OK, so, I'd like to give an explanation. I think the reason dgvoodoo didn't work the first time is because I was trying to run it in windows 95 compatibility mode. So I turned that off and ran it in the original download folder and it works, but without music. So I go try to run the patch you gave me and put all the necessary filed in hopes this version will have the music, but it tells me it wants me to put the daytona cd rom in?

Ugh, stupid me. I should have realized after patching the .exe that it would ask for the CD again. OK, so depending on how badly you want the music, you could download the .ISO from IsoZone and mount it. That should let you play the patched version too. Is that worth a 454 MB download...only you can decide. Otherwise, you can delete the folder and put the original files back in from the zip you had. And yes, you're 100% right on the Windows compatiblity modes messing with DgVoodoo.

Hello,
I extracted the file 'Daytona_usa_deluxe_opcg.rar' and when I clicked on the 'DAYTONA USA Deluxe.exe' file on my Windows 10 PC I just get the error 'EXE Application error - The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000022). Click OK to close the application' without anything else.
I've tried running in Admin mode or Compatibility Windows 95 mode, do you know what that error could be or what else I could try please?
Many thanks!
