Dear Matt, this is important;
Although the existing methods to fix NHL 2001 and NHL 2002 work fine, it only works until you try to go to the Select Teams menu, where both games crash. As far as I can see, ntdll.dll is the module that causes the problem. Which creates another problem; it's in SysWow64 and System32, which can't be modified, even by the Administrator, as Windows will tell you that you don't have permission to modify the file.
Is there any way to address this crash so that they can be playable again, or are you just going to ignore this glaring problem and leave them as is, with no way to access gameplay?

That sucks.
I guess now there’s no one who can fix the Select Teams crashes I am having, where ntdll.dll is at fault.

ahh, ntdll.dll, yeah, that stuff plagued nearly all of my old games when i went to a new PC setup couple years ago, which had a 8 core CPU, m.2 SSD, 16 gigs of DDR4. I noticed when FIFA 2004 started not working properly, had the ntdll.dll issue, had to fire up the game multiple times till it started working. Then i noticed most of my pre-2003 games just refused to launch due to ntdll.dll problem. So i don't think there's anything Matt can do, it's something within Windows itself. I asked around for help in other forums, barely anyone offered me a helpful solution or links me to bogus "how to fix your ntdll.dll problem" videos. So unfortunately unless someone's smart enough with how NT Kernel works, we're stuck with the options like going to old PC setups or using virtual machines. Or in my case, using emulators and creating a offline Windows account.

Ya'll can download the updated ntdll.dll from here:
x32 ntdll.dll I have to use that site quite a bit. They are 100% safe, no viruses, or anything. . . You'll just copy the dll file to the System32 folder, and it should work.

Yeap, it doesn't let me copy it without permissions. I even tried to change the ownership, that option is locked.

nope, don't need it. It's just pointless, and it's understandable why they made system32 locked down so that no copying or tampering is allowed. And while it worked for you, doesn't mean it will work for everyone.

Here's an attachment showing how locked down this folder is, so don't bother show me any "tutorials" about it.

I'm a computer technician. I don't know why you would have to take ownership of System32 anyway, unless you're account is not an Administrator account. I can install fonts, dll files, etc and I never had to do all the work arounds to take ownership of System32. . The only thing that has ever popped up is something about a permission and all I did was click "Ok to Continue" or something like that and it worked.

well, not in my case, it's not letting me do it despite having the admin account, so in my case, it's just pointless to even try as the system32 is OS locked in my case.
