Also, after I installed NHL 2002, and it did work as I said before, the next time I try to start it it tells me to put in the CD. So the NoCD is temporary?

It looks like NHL 2002 graduated from the NHL 2001 School of Crashing To The Desktop When Trying to Select Teams. Is there any way I can fix that for either game?

Hi Mike,
I always turned the volume for the menu music and in-game music to 0, so I didn't know there was a playlist. I don't have the game on-hand at the moment, so I can't really help on that.
Here's how I got NHL 2002 to work on Windows 10 20H2 (64-bit) in Direct3D mode. 1. Install the full game to C:\Games\EA SPORTS\NHL 2002\ instead of C:\Program Files (x86)\EA SPORTS\NHL 2002\. 2. Run C:\Games\EA SPORTS\NHL 2002\3DSetup\3DSetup.exe as administrator and choose your options. Click "This program installed correctly" if the prompt comes up. 3. Download this no-cd fix. www.mediafire.com/file/ll84nw6ssitz91t/NHL2002-nocd.zip/file4. Unzip nhl2002.exe and RegSetup.exe into the NHL2002 installation directory. Let it overwrite nhl2002.exe. 5. Run RegSetup.exe as administrator. Click "This program installed correctly" when the prompt comes up. 6. Download this newer ddraw.dll. www.mediafire.com/file/xhzxtose5s96t3b/ddraw.zip/file7. Extract ddraw.dll into the NHL2002 installation directory. Hi hh2002, You gave the only solution I have seen to playing this on Windows 10 20H2. Finally, it works!!! But, your fix changed the menu song. Well, all of the menu songs. Any way to revert it to the original songlist? Thanks!

The NoCD is permanent, although I do recall having the same issue at various times in the past. I don't know why some installs of the game and NoCD work perfectly while others have this problem. I guess I would try running "RegSetup.exe" as administrator again and see if that clears it up. If not, I guess I would uninstall the game, reinstall it with the same steps that I listed before. I hope you get it to work!

anyone have an updated method for getting NHL 2002 to work on windows 10? Game runs smooth on menus but crashes anytime I try to go to the screen to play a match. Both in the "Play Game" mode and when trying to start a match in season mode.

Hi Matt, my name is Hien. I'm here in 2022 and I'm trying to install and play NHL 99 on my windows 10. I've followed all the 6 steps and click on NHL99 app, it tells me to, "Please insert the NHL 99 CD ROM into drive G:\ and try again." I don't have any optical drives, the CD was copied into a zip folder. What am I missing here? Please help... Thank you enclosed is my current system configuration. Attachments:

Good morning Flippy. I kept doing tests and NHL 2002 works perfectly using NGLide and Windows XP SP2 or SP3 compatibility mode (this may not be really necessary but with other games I have given me a plus of stability and I prefer to leave it like this). You do not need DXWND for NHL 2002 ... Best regards. I want to run NHL 2000 in windowed mode, but I cannot configure it in a way that will allow me to run it in that mode.

Also, give us fixes to make NHL 2001 and 2002 run on recent versions of Windows, as trying to play any sort of match WILL crash both games!

Hey guys,
I just got a new computer (Windows 10) and am trying to get NHL 2002 up and running again, but whenever I try to start a match, the game crashes...
My previous computer also had Windows 10, and I got the game to work by installing the EA Sports patch and replacing the dx7z.dll, but somehow on this new one I can't get it to work... Does anyone have a suggestion/fix?
