It would just crash back to the desktop. But looking at the file structure for the game it does use safedisc encryption as I found an ICD file. I'm guessing the game would need to be cracked before it can be played then.

Yes, exactly right. I had to download the no cd/fixed exe from this link to get the game running (didn't bother patching the game so I just used the one for version 1.0). F1 2000 No-CD PatchesLoaded fine after that. Had some framerate issues which dgvoodoo seemed to fix, so if you run into framerate/graphic issues, just download dgvoodoo v2.53 from dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/dgVoodoo2.html and extract ddraw.dll and d3dimm.dll from the zip file to your F1 2000 directory.

It still doesn't work. It would just crash me to my desktop. I dunno what's up.

What happens when you try to run F1Config.exe? That's the graphics configurator - should be somewhere in the F1 2000 folder. It'll give you a choice between Software mode, Direct3D Primary, and Direct3D Secondary.
What I didn't realize when I ran the game originally is that it was running because it was set to software -- if I choose primary or secondary it crashes when I try to load a track, even with dgvoodoo files in. Trying to figure that out - saw a claim that it could work with a certain version of dgvoodoo but I tried and it sure doesn't for me.
For you though, it doesn't even get that far, right? It crashes before the EA SPORTS logo or main menu even appears?

yeah, same thing happens to me, whenever it tries to load the track, it crashes, though after some random number of times i got it running, so there's something in compatibility that makes game not coorporate with dgvoodoo, you reckon it can be found through ACT?

In the past I've never had luck using ACT to resolve dgvoodoo probs, but it's always possible.
Right now I'm messing with dxwnd to see what that will do. Using the latest build, I can at least get to the track, but the graphics are a little glitchy (seethrough tires, backgrounds, etc). Looking to see if one of the 900 settings in dxwnd will fix it.

oh, ok, was just guessing, cause i fixed FIFA 99's freezing while loading issue with ACT.

Any progress on fixing F1 2000?

Nope. I really hadn't done anything more until I saw your message. Just spent the last couple hours messing with it to no avail. I found this forum thread where a guy shows off pics of a bunch of older racing games upscaled with dgvoodoo or nGlide - lo and behold F1 2000 is there, and the pic is definitely not from the software mode, so it must be possible somehow. Just makes me wonder what I'm missing. Older racing games upscaledThings I've tried already: *Adjusting all in-game graphics settings to low or off. *Messed with all the dgvoodoo configurator settings *Windows compatibility modes *Installed the final version (v1.09) patch + no CD

Any ideas to get the moto racer games to run on modern systems? Include, retail discs, steam, and GOG versions?

i think i'll take a look at older dgvoodoo versions and report you on what can be done with F1 2000, cause i have a sneaky suspicion, that he used older version of dgvoodoo, not the 2.54 version that was recently released EDIT: The report is in, and sadly 2.44 doesn't seem to get picked up by 3d config and 2.52 sadly does the same effect as 2.53 and 2.54: crashes most of the time with random success to get passed, so i decided to ask that author of that post you linked in to know how he managed to pull it off as he mentioned in replies that he tweaked his games to be stable.

DJ - I never played Moto Racer, but this site (which inspired mine) had a whole section on MR...check it out and see if it's helpful. If not, let me know and I'll take a crack. Game Bender: Moto RacerMaarcis - Good idea - hopefully he still visits that site lol as he seems to be our only lead...I can't get dxwnd to work right with it either.

yeah, and most suggestions i got from other forums and youtube users are: either get win xp machine or use a virtual win xp machine. So VirtuaIceMan is our only hope to get the answers we need.

Yeah, I love that. I know they mean well, but if I thought "make a virtual machine" was a real answer I could have 5,000 games on this site.
