Possibly they thought that this was used to make an NHL game UI on pc version to be much more easier, probably didn't got the memo that IE 6 - 8 was anything, but stable and user friendly. Thankfully with NHL 2005-09 they came to the senses and just used the basic game engine interface. And weirdest part is that no other EA Sports games of that time used that idea, it was only utilized for EA Sports Online part of those game.

Good Morning! First of all, thank you for the great work that is done here to continue enjoying this magnificent saga. My query is around the game NHL 2002. I have followed all the steps and the game runs perfectly, but there is a graphical fault that although not very significant prevents to enjoy the game in all its visual splendor. These are the brightness of players' helmets that are not shown during the game, only the goalie. I have the graphical configuration of the game to the maximum and in all the games only the brightness of the goalie is shown. Anyone know any solution to this problem? Thank you very much. In this video you can see this problem (in 0:27 is obvious): Sorry for my bad English, I'm from Spain. A greeting.

I have been able to resolve the problem by putting compatibility mode to nhl2002.exe in Windows XP SP2 or SP3.

Hi acbarra! Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner.
That is an anomaly I had not seen before - out of curiosity, are you running the game in Glide or Direct3D?

Hi Matt! Well I'm running it in Direct3D but I've also tried it with Glide and to display the brightness correctly you have to put the compatibility mode in Windows XP. What if I notice both in this and the NHL 2001, is that although it shows a great fluency with the file ddraw.dll the game sticks small jumps of image above all when the referee pays and in the changes of the animations are produced Frame jumps. I do not know if Glide is less noticed or solved, I'll try it out more carefully. A greeting.

NHL 98 works great on my laptop, but whenever I try to see its wonderful intro, it stays locked the video in half and I have to give the key to go to the main menu. Is there a way to view the intro without problems? I'm about to stay with the PSX version that does not differ much from the PC version.

Greetings Are you using Windows 8.1? I remember that frame jump from when I played 2001 on that. It would do it once or twice a period. I don't think Glide mode has the frame jump, but Direct3D mode ran better the rest of the time, so it was kind of a trade-off. You could also try dgvoodoo with it - download v.2.54 and unzip the ddraw.dll from the zip to the NHL 2001 folder. Just something else to test. The 98 intro has always been hit or miss with me - I've played that version on 5 or 6 different PCs over the years and it's done something different on all of them. I'm honestly not sure what causes it though.

Hey I tried few times to install this for the living kicking mod community but NHL2000 wouldn't play without CD-rom. yes I DLed this game few times, this time I payed for it from oldgames site. to replace the virtual drive I looked in this thread and changed it by modifying manually the letter E from your download link to J. other than that, I did all the steps for win10 64bit, and also tried first with the launch game file from my download, since it's cracked, then with the file in your download link. both gotten me nowhere. again. I did own this game by CD but that was ages ago. I tried going by setting the launch to win98//me and to win xp sp3 your trick to copy game made the menu show the play game option but still no go from there...to nowhere.

For now I will continue with the great NHL 98 although the intro errors;) I have tried the NHL 99 and I can run it, but during the match I suffer random slowdowns depending on where I move from the field and it is impossible to play. NHL 98 moves fluid and smooth but this is impossible ... Any ideas? A doubt, how to change camera in NHL 98 and the key to skip the transitions during matches?? I can not find any options anywhere ... Thank you.

acbarra wrote: I've had that before with NHL 99 - probably happens when you get by the bench area and it shows all the players on the screen at once, right? Are you running 99 through nGlide? If yes, what resolution setting do you have set under nGlide configurator? Try a really low setting (800x600) and see if it helps. The NHL 98 camera controls are a bit odd - not sure it was ever implemented properly like it was in future years. There doesn't seem to be a key command for it, and there isn't a direct menu option either. Do you have a game controller? If you do, an option for toggling the camera does appear under the controller mapping. At this screen, click your profile name (in this case it's EA SPORTS, highlighted in yellow) and at the next screen click customize controller. Oh yeah, make sure you've selected your controller first - see that controller icon to the right of EA SPORTS with the 1 inside it? That's where you cycle keyboard/mouse/gamepad controls. Just a note -- no matter what button you select for the camera toggle, it will always show as "NONE" at this screen. However it should work during actual gameplay. The transitions can be turned off by selecting rules from the menu and turning 'play stoppage presentation' off.

Hi RDM and Hockeyplayer RDM - the game won't work from the autorun. You have to either create a desktop/start menu shortcut pointing to the nhl2k.exe, or just launch it manually from File Explorer. Let me know if it still doesn't work for you. hockeyplayer - Sorry, I did see your first post. Just been thinking about what to say. Your situation is different/trickier because I don't have access to the same files you have. The executable I have posted here was designed to work with the game CD in the drive, so I'm not surprised that doesn't work. IIRC I've never gotten 2k to work with a straight crack. You should at least be getting *some* kind of error message, though. You've tried clicking on the nhl2k.exe file in explorer, right, not just from the autorun? Give me a day or two - I have some ideas, just need time to test them.. but I wanted to get back to you with something. This oldgames file you have, is it an ISO, or what?

Hi Matt
I´ve tried to launch game from NHL2K.exe from my original NHL2000 CD and from created folder C:Games/Sports/NHL2K as well, and result is the same. Still nothing happened. The game ask me if I want to launch it as administrator and then nothing.

Thanks Matt! I have already been able to change the camera with the gamepad, but it is a shame that is impossible with the keyboard, although in the replays if the option to change camera appears .... The Psx version if you have a camera selector.
Anyway the camera ice is not bad. I notice in the gameplay of psx that the puck is more controlled, while in PC you have to get close to him to control it. Both versions complement well although graphically in Pc is superior (except the shadows and some reflections on the track that are more realistic in Psx except that does not appear texture in the ice) and in Psx perhaps improve in gameplay. Personally NHL 98 is the best version in Psx, in others the puck is the size of the heads of the players and is not at all realistic ...
